THE GARDEN

"Free the Girls is a dream garden which pays tribute to French artist Niki de Saint Phalle.

The landscape gardener Christophe Gautrand wishes in this extraordinary garden to echo the work of this artist whom he admires, by staging plants with fantastic looks and vivid colours. Through these atypically proportioned and varied tree-sculptures, he evokes the diversity of women and genders. These great trees evoke the 'Girls,' the female figures imagined by Niki de Saint-Phalle.

Large circular planters house these trees and palms with trunks coloured by natural pigments. These metal containers, also coloured, offer seats so that the garden is used as a place to talk and meet in the shade, facing the sea. Reflecting pools bring cool and reflect the flowers planted in this garden.

Curved lines are preferred to right angles and a continuity of colours is created between the 'Girls' and the gravel soil. In this plant setting which is intended to be a source of inspiration for the public, tribute is paid to women artists."
