THE GARDEN

In our garden, we can stroll in a free space, between several space-time and discover the "complantations" based on the cultural practices from the Antiquity period.

The project is made of vegetal species that vary from nurture gardens to ornamental and magical plants. The interweaving of plants weaves a protective veil, an intimate space where the public could sit on the seat-sculptures and being contemplative.

This place is all about the theme “Garden of artists”. It reminds you and makes you think of some graphic and botanical proposals where the nature becomes an artwork itself. In this creation we can discover some islets of "landscape gardens", some windows to see the roots, some frames offering different views. In the center, a "bassin tableau", as an archaeological central structure and also a well as a resource from where springs luxuriance.

This location painted in "Majorelle blue" talks about the history of art, painters, and plays with the main principles of composition and lighting. Here the beauties of nature and the human works are orchestrated and question the viewer: Is the work of art unique to Human or is the nature the first artist from which he is inspired?

Catherine Baas, artist, went exploring the landscapes on various continents: she will bring back her observation notebooks filled with drawings, annotations and photos. For the past twenty years, she has created environmental installations for art centers and public spaces.

Christophe Tardy has a dual educational background in ecology and archeology; he spent years in the Amazon forest for his research work and his PhD. Today, he leads a team of archaeologists at INRAP specialized in the excavation of wells, abundant sources of information about the palaeo-environments.
