Thematic 2023

For the 4th edition of the Festival, the theme chosen is

The play of perspectives has been part of the art of landscaping for centuries. The greatest landscape architects have always been able to dramatise gardens to make them works of art in their own right. To do this, they have played with optical effects, using paths, alignments or focal points such as a tree, a plant, a water feature or a sculpture... Structuring one's garden by playing with perspectives will be the challenge of this 4th edition.

Thus, the visitor will be surprised by the play of lights and shadows, open or intimate perspectives, atypical paths, places to rest, and landscape settings where the association of plants will be highlighted.

As part of the Côte d’Azur Gardens Festival, the Alpes-Maritimes Department is organizing a competition of 17 ephemeral landscape creations open from February to June 2022.

The competition is managed by the Tourism Section, in partnership with the municipalities hosting the creations and aims to reward the winning landscape creation elected by the members of the jury. For the 2023 edition, the creations of national and international teams will be spread over five municipalities of the department and the Principality of Monaco.

Each municipality will host 2 or 3 ephemeral gardens, free to the public during the day, all along the Festival, from March 25 to May 1st, 2023.

The gardens presented will feature a studied layout and precise finishes to delight visitors and should consider the challenges of sustainable development.

The creations of national and international teams will be selected in the autumn of 2022 by a Technical Committee.

The creations will be appreciated in 2023 by 3 jury groups and 7 prizes will be awarded.
